About Prisma
Prisma is a proud daughter of District 4, having been born and raised in Pleasant Grove. She is a Dallas ISD graduate, and attended W.A. Blair Elementary, E.B. Comstock Middle School, and H. Grady Spruce High School. Her parents are both immigrants from Mexico who, despite having less than a high school education themselves, have always prioritized the importance of education for their three daughters.

Prisma and her sisters all have proudly obtained advanced degrees in their educational careers. As a kid, Prisma spent her summers reading books that she bought at the Lake June Thrift Store or borrowed from the Pleasant Grove library. Her family would go to the Seagoville Flea Market on weekends with an occasional meal at Crawford Park, and shopping in Balch Springs. She was a DISD student leader, serving as class president and holding several leadership positions in student clubs. Notre Dame became her dream college in the eighth grade and she spent her high school years working toward that goal to successfully apply and be admitted early.
Prisma earned her Bachelor of Science in Science-Business with a minor in Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She also completed a Master of Science in Engineering, Science, and Technology Entrepreneurship Excellence (ESTEEM) from Notre Dame. She is a life-long learner and has several certificates from universities like the University of Pennsylvania, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Houston. Prisma has completed her coursework for a PhD in Sociology with a concentration in social inequalities and stratification from Texas Woman’s University and will become an official PhD candidate in 2025.
Prisma knows firsthand how education can change the trajectory of an entire family as it has allowed her access to countless opportunities. After graduating college, Prisma followed her passion and returned to serve her community while continuing her career. She worked at a philanthropy firm, where she led fundraising efforts for several capital campaigns. She later worked at a nonprofit organization focused on empowering families in education, health, and financial literacy. Additionally, Prisma has been involved in many groundbreaking projects and programs with numerous impactful nonprofit organizations serving Dallas and District 4 communities
Prisma is committed to improving the lives of children and youth. She co-founded Community Does It, the first mental health center in the 75217 zip code. This organization has been a bright spot in the neighborhood for parents and youth seeking workshops on topics such as assertive communication, healthy relationships, and arts & emotions as well as offering individual counseling.
Today, Prisma works in corporate social responsibility and has led programs for two major corporations. She continues to serve on numerous nonprofit boards and committees, including Community Does It, Friends of Crawford Park, and Read Up. She is an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, DFW Hispanic 100, H. Grady Spruce Alumni Association, Notre Dame Alumni Club of Dallas, The Alumni Society, Association of Hispanic School Administrators, Kleberg-Rylie Neighborhood Association, and La Alianza DFW.
As Trustee, Prisma is committed to doing what is best for kids. She is best equipped to navigate the challenges and nuanced situations that students and families face in District 4. She believes in collaboration to make this world a better place for all.
She has been honored in the past as a 2023 Dallas Business Journal Leader in Diversity and the 2023 Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce Community Champion.
